Only a few scant days after my previous shoot with PABH, I had the pleasure of taking some shots at their debut album launch party at the world(?) famous Brudenell Social Club. Life has been pretty crazy of late, but I managed to find a bit of time last week to finally go through these shots, and I hope you enjoy them!
Currently one of the UK’s most promising up-and-coming rock bands, Everything Everything put on a brilliant live show, filled out with four-part vocal harmonies, triggered samples, liquid basslines and angular guitar gymnastics. Add in to that an almost incomprehensible stream-of-consciousness collection of lyrics, and you’ve got quite the package! They recently stopped by Leeds on their tour with fellow bright young things, Delphic.
Check out more shots below the cut!
With their new album “Attack of the Wolf King” coming up, US metallers Haste The Day swung by the UK for a brief tour back in April. Labelmates Oh, Sleeper were also scheduled to appear, but Icelandic Volcanoes got in the way of things. Undeterred, Haste The Day came and provided Manchester Moho with a blistering set of harcore-tinged metal. Check out more shots below the cut!
Huddersfield isn’t known for it’s musical output on the whole. Indeed, Evile are something of an anomaly as the only name band I can think of to emerge from West Riding’s dark clutches. Geography aside, however, Evile are also notable for being leaders of the thrash revival that’s swept the world over the last few years. Full of energy and determined to have fun, they brought the spirit of the 80s along with them on their recent visit to Leeds Rios. Plenty of shots to see below the cut!
Ted Maul make music that makes you feel like you’ve been thrown in a tumble dryer with an angry hyena. They make very wrong sounds, and on stage, it’s incredible. I caught them at Leeds Rios a few months back, and took a couple of shots.
Hair. Lots of hair. And beards, too. And a proper skullet. Stepping into the main venue at Damnation Festival 2009, these were the first things I noticed. The Gates of Slumber were mid set, and There was doom in the air.

Propelled by mechanical glitches and staccato drums, 65daysofstatic are a mechanical monster of a band. In the flesh, however, their live show is as dramatic and emotive as their records are considered and controlled. I’m delighted to have caught them live a few times in recent years, and I was stoked to be shooting them at their sold-out show at Manchester Academy last November.

In the lead-up to Damnation Festival this coming Saturday, I thought I’d put out a short bonus post from the last time I shot for the Damnation team – at the first UK Deathfest at Leeds University in May. A bunch of the shoots on that occasion proved really tricky, most of all for the subject of today’s post, Akercocke.

A few months ago, I got the chance to shoot Maxïmo Park’s show at the Leeds O2 Academy. It was my second time shooting in that venue, and it was, at the time, the biggest show I’d shot. I was very aware of the 2,000-strong crowd behind me!

A few moths ago, I had the chance to shoot the entirety of the inaugural UK Deathfest at Leeds University. There were a bunch of bands throughout the day, spread over two stages, and it was a blast to shoot. One of the main stage bands that appeared that day was the UK’s The Rotted.
