Brontide
With a name that translates variously as “Thunder”, “The distant sound of an earthquake” and other such colourful terms, Brontide are a fittingly epic proposal on stage. With their heavy-yet-melodic instrumentals, they craft little storms of songs, with a neat sense of dynamics and timbre. I caught them recently supporting Rolo Tomassi at Manchester’s Night & Day Cafe.
Rolo Tomassi
With appearances at Leeds and Reading fast approaching, prog-hardcore crew Rolo Tomassi (see previously) stopped by Manchester’s Night & Day cafe for a pre-festival warm up show. With a new album now well-lodged in their fans minds, the Tomassi gang tore it up, with both new and old tracks going down a storm with the assembled crowd. Check out more shots below the cut!

Pulled Apart By Horses
Only a few scant days after my previous shoot with PABH, I had the pleasure of taking some shots at their debut album launch party at the world(?) famous Brudenell Social Club. Life has been pretty crazy of late, but I managed to find a bit of time last week to finally go through these shots, and I hope you enjoy them!
End To Empires
If you like your punk music hardcore and raw, and would rather think of metalcore and its other derivative styles as simply bad dreams best left forgotten, then End to Empires are for you. Scathing, groovy and brutal, these guys really deserve to go places. I caught them at Santiago’s in Leeds a few days back and took a handful of shots. Check out more below the cut!
Everything Everything
Currently one of the UK’s most promising up-and-coming rock bands, Everything Everything put on a brilliant live show, filled out with four-part vocal harmonies, triggered samples, liquid basslines and angular guitar gymnastics. Add in to that an almost incomprehensible stream-of-consciousness collection of lyrics, and you’ve got quite the package! They recently stopped by Leeds on their tour with fellow bright young things, Delphic.

The Rotted
With a new EP freshly released, UK punk-metal bruisers The Rotted are on the road again. bringing a healthy dose of Lahndahn misery along with them. I stopped by their recent show at Manchester Moho Live to catch the action. Check out more shots below the cut!
Chickenhawk
Supporting Pulled Apart by Horses on their recent UK mini-tour were fellow Leodiensians Chickenhawk. With a raft of metal/rock/hardcore anthems to hand, they played an utter stormer of a set to a bizarrely sedate crowd at Manchester’s Deaf Institute. Check out more shots from the show below the cut!
Pulled Apart By Horses
Named by many as the most exciting live band in the UK at the moment, Pulled Apart by Horses are very much in their ascendency right now. With their debut album still hot off the presses, and a prestigious support slot for arena behemoths Muse approaching fast, PABH are surely one of the hottest tickets in the country right now. I got the chance to shoot them live at Manchester’s Deaf Institute recently.

Pulled Apart by Horses will punch you in the throat, then high five you for taking it like a man. They also play some pretty gnarly tunes. Charlie Bath
Given my general mistrust of the entire “acoustic-singer-songwriter” genre, I was more than pleasantly surprised when I caught Charlie Bath live at Crash Records recently. She was performing as part of Test Space, a multidisciplinary art fair, and was a real breath of fresh air, singing engaging, challenging and thought-provoking little epics of songs.
