Chickenhawk
Supporting Pulled Apart by Horses on their recent UK mini-tour were fellow Leodiensians Chickenhawk. With a raft of metal/rock/hardcore anthems to hand, they played an utter stormer of a set to a bizarrely sedate crowd at Manchester’s Deaf Institute. Check out more shots from the show below the cut!

The Deaf Institute is an utterly beautiful and interesting venue, but it’s lighting setup leaves a photographer wanting, to say the least. Thankfully, with a bit of cribbing from a certain Mr North, I went into this show prearmed, with an idea of how to achieve a pretty solid, clean look for my shots. A pair of speedlights strapped together and taped onto a metal girder running the length of the room provided enough light to bounce off the high (and, thankfully, white) ceiling, and create a very diffuse, shadow-free light source.
