
Soaring melodies and brain-frying glitches are two specialities of 65daysofstatic. I had the pleasure to shoot them at their sold-out show in Manchester recently, and here’s a quick preview of the evening, with plenty more shots still to come!

Back in 2003, my world changed one afternoon when a good friend played me a CD he’d just bought. I gave it a couple of spins, and before long, I’d fallen in love. It was my first time listening to proper (read: slightly underground) metal, and I was immediately hooked. That CD was Viva Emptiness, and the band behind it was Katatonia – the subject of today’s post.

Jazz, as any reader of this site can attest, isn’t my normal musical subject matter, so this set is quite a break from the norm. The Daniel Taylor Quartet are a Leeds-based group, emerging from the Leeds College of Music in the last few months, and I had the pleasure of taking some promo shots for them at their first public appearance in Leeds town hall.
